Reserve Your Spot: Oasis Free Clinics Virtual Cooking Classes!

February 9, 2022

The doldrums of winter are upon us. For a lot of people, it’s a time when they spend more time inside their house. With COVID, it’s continued to feel like a time when leaving the house is uncertain. That’s why I love virtual options, like the virtual cooking classes offered by Oasis Free Clinics.

I’ve participated in my fair share with 2Gether We Cook, Three of Strong for cocktail classes, and even a fondue class featuring delectable local Maine cheeses. So when I heard about the virtual cooking classes being offered by Oasis Free Clinics in Brunswick, I knew I had to share what they are doing with my readers!

Keep reading to learn more about these virtual cooking classes and their incredible cause!

What are the Oasis Free Clinics Cooking Classes?

Like many other non-profits, COVID-19 hit Oasis Free Clinics hard. The ability to fundraise become much more challenging, forcing Executive Director Anita Ruff to get a little creative.

Originally, 2020 and 2021 were supposed to mean the opportunity for a gala, which was sure to be a perfect time to raise much-needed funds. But with COVID, gathering in person became almost impossible.

There are also fewer outdoor dining options available in Brunswick for the winter, so virtual cooking classes seemed like the best solution. To really draw people in, these virtual cooking classes feature some of the best chefs in the state of Maine.

Think Sam Hayward (featured in January’s virtual class), Christine Burns Rudalevige for February’s class, and Nikaline Iacono for the final virtual cooking class in March. When you have true star power and a great cause, it’s a no-brainer to sign up!

It’s easy too! All you have to do is sign up on their website here. From there, you can choose which classes you want to take and pay for them right then and there. Trust me, there’s still time to book if you need to get the perfect Valentine’s or Galentine’s Day gift! Classes are $75 each and the perfect way to say you love someone, or the ideal way to treat yourself and support a great cause this winter!

The final virtual cooking class in March on Saturday, 3/12 features Nikaline Iacono. Nikaline Iacono is the owner of the popular Vessel and Vine in Brunswick.

Her class will be on shaken cocktails. From why you shake some cocktails instead of stirring them, to the correct way to shake a cocktail, and how to pour and strain a cocktail correctly into a glass.

If you’ve ever fancied yourself an amateur mixologist, this is the class for you! There are sure to be plenty of delicious cocktails imbibed!
